Mopol beheaded by ‘cultists’ in Plateau

By Bashir Liman, Jos | Published Date September 5, 2018 A headless body of a mobile police officer cut off by the suspected cultists has been found in Jos city of Plateau state. The body was found behind New Township Stadium along Zaria road in Jos North Local Government area of the state. The mopol identified as Unana Ishay was from Mopo 56 and attached to Sector One of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) – a security taskforce saddled with the responsibility of restoring and maintaining peace in the state. Police command in the state said the mopol was beheaded last Saturday when he left his base with the intention of buying Suya. The Police Public Relation Officer, (PPRO) in the state, Tyopev Terna explained that his command knew about the beheading when a Captain in the Nigeria Army, Joer Olaruwaju reported the incident at the Laranto Police Division. The youths had stoned journalists who were trying to get information on the incident, saying despite their reports of attacks in the state, the government had not taken action to halt killings. Insecurity: Emir of Keffi demands constitutional recognition of traditional institutions

He made this known in a lecture on ‘The Role of Traditional Institutions in the Preservation of Cultural Values and the Management of National Security,’ delivered at the Institute of Security Studies (ISS) on Wednesday in Abuja. He noted that before the erosion of the powers of the traditional institution in post-colonial Nigeria, the traditional system was vital in intelligence gathering and checking criminal trends. Shekarau dumps PDP, returns to APC

FG, states, LGs share N714.809bn for July

A communiqué issued by the Technical sub -Committee of Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) at the end of its meeting indicated that the gross statutory revenue received was N597.975 billion which is lower than the N694.672 billion received in the previous month by N96.697 billion. Crude oil export sales volume was 3.74 million barrels, resulting in an increased revenue from the Federation Crude Oil Expert Sales by 0.17 million barrels when compared to the previous month’s sales volume of 3.57 million barrels.
